Understand conversations, workspaces, and project spaces
Distinguish the main working scopes so you can choose the right context and people.
In this article
Four different scopes
- Conversation
- Message history tied to one objective. A conversation can be saved, temporary, personal, or associated with a project.
- Workspace
- A durable space that brings together members, instructions, and, when configured, a shared document library.
- Personal project
- A personal organization of chats, files, and instructions. It is not automatically an organization-governed project space.
- Project space
- The governed record for a mandate, including identity, status, organizations, collaborators, structured data, documents, and associated conversations.
Private does not mean personal
The private side of a project space belongs to the owning organization’s scope. The shared side, when present, exposes only items explicitly shared with accepted participating organizations. Always verify the active side before adding a person, data item, or document.
Practical guidance
A project association and workspace membership answer different questions: which assignment the exchange concerns, and which collaboration space you are using. A private organization project space is also different from a personal project. Read the displayed scope before saving changes.
Advanced tips
When several project spaces are associated, explicitly name the one to use for the current request. State whether information from another associated project is comparison material or an authoritative input for the deliverable.
