Start, find, and manage chats in Word
Choose a saved or temporary chat and use available actions in the Word pane.
In this article
Open the chat list and verify the count and titles of saved conversations.
Open an existing chat only when its document, project, and purpose remain appropriate.
Use temporary mode for a one-time need that should not appear in normal history.
For a saved chat, use offered actions to rename, associate projects, pin, or delete.
Wait for any busy action to finish before changing chats.
Practical guidance
Saved chat controls support the offered rename, project-association, pin and delete actions according to state and permissions. Share, group-chat and archive entries in the Office chat menu are currently disabled. Do not use Studio’s active archive procedure as evidence that the Office menu implements the same action.
Advanced tips
Give saved chats titles that identify the document purpose without including confidential details. When reusing a chat for a later revision, explicitly identify the new version and verify its active selection before requesting another edit.
