Apply text and rich content in Word
Review the proposed target and format before an insertion, replacement, or append action.
In this article
- Insert
- Adds content at the cursor or explicitly stated location.
- Replace
- Substitutes the content of the selection or confirmed target.
- Append
- Places content after a target or at the end of the body according to the plan.
- Content format
- The plan can use plain text, HTML, or structured Word content when that combination is supported.
Review the action, target, risk, and scope.
If a preview is offered, inspect tables, lists, images, and references. Otherwise, check the content applied in Word directly.
Keep the selection and document stable during processing, then verify the result.
After applying, inspect the document and save it only when the result is correct.
Practical guidance
The operation specifies both an action and a content format. Preview the generated content, then verify whether the plan inserts after a selection, replaces selected content or appends to the document. After execution, inspect Word’s actual result and the returned status; the pane’s formatted response is not the inserted document.
Advanced tips
For complex tables, images or equations, first use a small representative insertion in an appropriate working copy. Validate native structure and save/reopen behavior before applying the same type of content throughout a valuable document.
