Understand the move from “team” to “workspace”
Recognize older team labels without assigning them a different scope or permission model.
In this article
- Workspace
- Preferred public term for the collaborative context that groups members, instructions, conversations, files, and memory where supported.
- Team
- Older term still visible in some technical names, historical links, or screenshots; it does not automatically create a different access type.
- Use “workspace” in new requests and procedures.
- If an older link or message says “team,” confirm the members and context before continuing.
- Never infer a permission change from the label change alone.
Practical guidance
Workspace is the collaboration term used in current guidance; team can remain in old screenshots or technical references. Personal project and governed project space are separate concepts even when their screens share controls. Identify the resource by its scope and purpose, not only its label.
Advanced tips
When requesting help, include the visible resource name and whether it is personal, organizational or project-related. This is more precise than reporting a problem with a team without explaining which collaboration resource is involved.
