Understand workspace memory
Interpret offered memory modes and what they do not automatically add to shared context.

Read the displayed mode
- Off means the workspace should not rely on durable memory from its exchanges.
- Personal projects offer Default or Project only when the setting is editable; ordinary workspaces do not expose this selector.
- A member’s personal memories do not automatically become shared.
- Shared projects can enforce a fixed scope that members cannot broaden.
Use memory carefully
Repeat critical constraints in the request and verify important facts in their owning sources. Memory helps maintain context; it does not guarantee completeness, currency, or permanent authorization of information.
Practical guidance
Current ordinary workspaces use memory off; they do not offer the personal-project memory selector. Personal projects expose Default and Project only when editable. A shared personal project can have a locked memory setting, which cannot be broadened through this dialog.
Advanced tips
Check the context-policy text in the resource itself before relying on remembered facts. Turning off durable memory is not a deletion command for conversations or files. Correct inaccurate facts in their source and restate critical constraints in the current request.
