Review the proposed operation
- Insert text
- Adds content at the intended compose location without replacing an existing selection.
- Prepend text
- Places content before the current body when that target is explicitly proposed.
- Replace selection
- Replaces only the text currently selected in the compose window.
Verify before sending
Review proposed text and correct facts, names, dates, commitments, and tone.
Confirm the operation and target in the active draft.
Verify inserted content, greetings, signature, citations, and formatting.
Verify recipients, attachments, and project one last time.
Send manually in Outlook only after your approval.
Prepare the request and choose the destination
Specify whether you need a reply, a new draft, or text to insert into an already open draft. State the audience, tone, facts to retain and commitments to avoid. Review the proposed recipients and message context separately from the generated wording. A polished draft can still address the wrong person or repeat outdated information.
When a draft window opens
Opening a compose window and applying its body are separate steps. Wait for the operation result, inspect the actual body and preserve any text you already wrote. If the taskpane is refreshed or the acknowledgment is delayed, first look for the existing draft. Do not repeat an insertion just because the chat has not yet confirmed it.
Advanced tips
- For a long thread, ask for a brief list of facts and unresolved questions before drafting. Separate confirmed dates from proposed dates and avoid turning a suggestion into a commitment.
- Review quoted history and signatures after insertion. Check attachments in Outlook itself; mentioning a file in the draft does not attach it.
- Example: “Draft a concise reply acknowledging receipt. List the two points requiring confirmation. Do not promise a delivery date and do not send the message.”
