Interpret the message

Feature disabled by policy
The organization does not allow this Microsoft Graph use. The add-in must retain its intended fallback.
Access denied
The account, consent, or permission does not allow the requested call.
Service unavailable
The feature may be configured, but the service is not responding at this time.

Safe recovery

  1. Continue with context supplied directly by Office when the pane offers it.

  2. Do not continuously repeat the action or attempt to obtain a token through an unapproved method.

  3. Provide the administrator with the message label, host, client, and time, without a token or confidential content.

  4. After a policy or consent change, close and reopen the pane, then sign in again if requested.

Practical guidance

Read the reported dependency state alongside the attempted feature. Office-supplied item context and Microsoft Graph access are different capabilities; one may work while another is unavailable. Continue only with the fallback actually offered, and have policy or consent questions reviewed by the authorized Microsoft 365 administrator.

Advanced tips

Report the failing action and exact dependency message rather than requesting unrestricted access. Include the client, item mode and time so the administrator can distinguish a policy decision, permission denial and service outage without receiving credentials.
