Set up your account and affiliations

  1. After signing in, choose to create your personal account or recover an existing account. Recovery uses the independent email address you previously confirmed.

  2. Enter your first and last names. Confirm the professional cards you own, including completing discovery when no cards match, then review your profile and current affiliation. This setup must be complete before you work in an organization.

  3. To find an existing card, verify an individual address already recorded on your cards and review the proposed matches. Existing affiliations and roles, including their history, are retained. Your own edits take precedence.

  4. Prefer a personal address you can keep after changing jobs. If your sign-in depends on work, confirm an independent recovery email.

  5. In Studio settings, open Profile. The card brings together your selected organization, current affiliations, and recovery email. Past affiliations remain in Professional data. You can continue personally and choose Link another organization later.

  6. To link another organization to your account, enter your individual work email and the code received. A recognized verified domain confirms the affiliation automatically when no card needs your review. Otherwise, review the cards or propose an organization if no match is found. A generic provider or shared mailbox cannot prove this affiliation.

  7. Review the proposed card information. If it belongs to someone else, choose This is not me to request review. Otherwise, confirm your profile and affiliation.

  8. Review the contact details and dates of your current affiliation and save the required information. Only role definition can be deferred within this step. Optional fields stay optional and no employment history needs to be entered again. The same commands are available in Professional data.

Resume verification or review an affiliation

  • Follow the expiration and attempt status shown for the current verification. Request a new code when needed and use the latest code for that flow.
  • The message “Code sent, awaiting confirmation” means the code was sent. The recovery email is confirmed after the code is verified. A pending or failed send shows its own status.
  • An unfinished verification resumes when you reopen setup. For recovery after reloading, re-enter your independent email and the code received.
  • If an affiliation must be reviewed or ended, contact the authorized organization administrator. Confirm which organization is affected and preserve your personal account and other valid affiliations.
  • In Settings, Notifications, choose channels for Account and affiliations. Essential notices remain available in the app. Verification emails are sent only when requested.
  • Notices that a colleague has claimed their cards are off by default. Enable them in Notifications for future events in your common active project-spaces. Cards update even while these notices remain disabled.

Check the visible indicators

  1. Open the profile menu in Studio or review the context footer in the Office add-in.

  2. Confirm the name or address of the signed-in account.

  3. Confirm the active organization. If you are in Personal Context, verify that this choice is intentional.

  4. Reopen the project, chat, document, or email after changing organizations so permissions can reload.

What the context affects

  • Visible projects and workspaces.
  • Available roles and actions.
  • The ability to create, share, or change project data.
  • Projects proposed in Outlook and context sent from Word.

Practical guidance

Complete the account setup shown after sign-in before relying on organization access. Confirm your profile, email verification and affiliation separately. In Studio, use the profile menu and Profile settings; in Office, inspect the account and organization footer before selecting project context.

Advanced tips

A sent verification message is not a confirmed address. Follow the status displayed for the current verification attempt and use the latest requested code. If affiliation details are wrong, request a review instead of creating a second identity to work around them.
